Committed to service reliability and flexibility, J H Davies has developed a business with a broad spread of customers across many industries.

Founded in 1878 as a family business and incorporated in 1971, J H Davies was originally a coal supply company. The family connection has continued with joint Managing Director Chris Parlane representing the fourth generation of the family, as the great grandson of the founder. Like many similar businesses, haulage, albeit with horses and carts, was a natural ancilliary service. With the nationalisation of the coal industry in 1948 the major source of the business disappeared. However, alongside other interests, the haulage aspect was developed and in 1976 when the current joint managing director Michael Harvey joined the company, it became the principal activity.

In 1998 J H Davies became a shareholding member of Palletline Plc, the premiere pallet distribution system. This enabled us to greatly enhance the level of service that we could offer for palletised deliveries.

Supported by an excellent staff, many of whom have very long service, the Company provides a comprehensive range of services:-

      -  Full loads
      -  Palletised Distribution
      -  Collection Service
      -  Warehousing (inc. loading and unloading containers)

J H Davies has many years experience carrying packaged chemicals and has staff trained to handle most hazardous products.

Longstanding and active members of the Road Haulage Association, we operate under their Conditions of Storage and 1998 Conditions of Carriage. Copies of these are available on request.
